After spending the best part of my career working in/around journalism and media, whilst tipping my toe into the proverbial writing pool, I have finally decided to put fingers on keys to reach out to my own audience and start sharing experiences.
My career started with a somewhat chance appointment working for the senior management team at the UK's national news agency as a recent university graduate. I spent five years working my way up and became Head of Olympic Projects at the tender age of 25. This position - and the extensive contact I had with the Olympic movement - enabled me to move 'in house' to work on the London 2012 Olympic Games, which was the stepping stone I needed to enter the eye-opening and international world of sporting events.
Work and pleasure have taken me to more than 20 countries in the past five years and if there is anything I have learned from my very different experiences, it is that people - and the relationships you forge with them - are the absolute most important thing we have in this short life. Being open, to both people and experiences, is such a vital tenet of my being now that I hope writing this blog will enable me to find new ways of broadening my horizons, whilst tapping into the hearts and minds of some kindred spirits.
